Keshava, a young disciple of a great master was unlike the rest of the disciples. He annoyed the rest who accepted everything told without questioning back. This young monk decided to be disciple of this great master only when he knew that his master would take him to path of spirituality and quench his thirst of knowledge but also satisfy the curious mind.
One day as usual the great master led his disciples under the huge banyan tree which formed the roof to his classroom. He sat on a higher seat as his disciples sat down with full attention.
The great master cleared his throat and asked the class, “What is life? ” for a change wanted answers from his class and not questions today.
The class for quiet till the silence was broken by the most attentive student, Sarangi. “Guru, as per our Shastra, life and death is a process of universe. Life is breath in of lord Vishnu and death is breath of lord Vishnu. ”
“Well said, Sarvagna but I look for more deep answers today.” said the master. Sunder, another disciple who loved literature referred a poet and said, “Life is an experience of joys and sadness.”
“That’s true Sunder but there is more to this.” The master looked at his favourite disciple and asked “Keshava, what do you think life is?”
Keshava said, ” Guruji Life is different for different people. I ask a married woman and might say Life is compromise and adjusting. A child will say life is a game. A youth will say life is a pleasure and fun. A diseased person would call it suffering. A business man might say life is all about risks and return .An actor says life is a stage and we all are actors.”
Keshava concluded by saying, “Life is I think what we make it.”
Guruji looked pleased and rewarded a Gita to Keshava.
