On January 5th,2015 NASA /ESA Hubble Space Telescope has released the largest ever image taken. The picture is of our closest neighbourhood spiral galaxy – Andromeda Galaxy.
The image has 1.6 Billion pixels of size 69,536 x 22,230 and needs a disk space of 4.3 GB. One would require more than 600 HD tvs to display this single image
The resulting image captures millions of stars and clusters in the Andormeda Galaxy spanning over 40,000 light years. Each white dot you see in the image is a star , some of them much more massive than our Sun.
